Today's post is a guest post and it is by the lovely Brad. After spending most of his time in a corporate setting and neglecting his own self-care for far too long, Brad embraced his calling and decided to become a full-time life coach. He now spends the rest of his life helping people get a better foothold on their wellness above all else. His post today focuses on the five ways entrepreneurs can make more time for self-care (if you hadn't already guessed that by the title).
When you're running a business, it can feel like there is no end to your to-do list. From dawn until dusk, you're taking care of one task after another, and you never have an opportunity to slow down. Many entrepreneurs struggle to incorporate self-care into their daily lives. But if you want your business to thrive, you need to put your own well-being first. By reading through these self-care tips, you can start thinking about new ways to prioritize your mental and physical health. Additionally, here are a few simple self-care tips to help you truly relax!
Hire Support
Do you feel like no matter how hard you're working; you can never take a step back? Perhaps you've begun to feel like you're constantly burning the candle at both ends, and there is no end in sight. This is a strong indication that it is time to hire more employees. Maybe you haven't hired your first employee yet, or maybe you're ready to expand your existing staff, but either way, you need a few more hands-on deck!
You may want to hire a personal assistant, a social media manager, a bookkeeper, or a customer service specialist. And if you want to update your website, you could benefit from hiring a web manager. To find candidates for the role, you can check out profiles on freelance job websites. You'll be able to compare their rates, reviews, and expected delivery times. If you're wondering how much do web developers make, you can anticipate that a developer will typically charge anywhere from $15 to $30 per hour. However, you can end up spending significantly more for a highly experienced developer.
Relaxation Techniques
Sometimes, simply practising a few relaxation techniques during the workday can help you feel calm and centred, even when things are chaotic. Well-Tuned recommends listening to a soothing playlist, putting away clutter on your desk, getting some natural light, taking a quick walk, or even actively relaxing your jaw to relieve tension. You might be surprised by how much better you feel afterwards!
Fit in Workouts
Do you need to spend lots of time at the gym to get fit? Not necessarily! Long workouts can be satisfying, but with your busy schedule, incorporating short workouts into your schedule is probably more realistic. In fact, you can work out at home to save more time rather than going to the gym. Fatherly recommends doing workout moves like crunches, planks, sit-ups, lunges, and squats.
Stick to a Bedtime
As an entrepreneur, it can feel like late nights are unavoidable. Maybe you even pull the occasional all-nighter when you're exceptionally busy. You don't like feeling exhausted most days, but you don't know how to commit to a healthy sleep routine when you have so much on your plate. But getting to bed around the same time each night can help you become a better business owner - you'll have a much easier time staying on top of all your responsibilities! If you're ready to repair your sleep schedule, Casper recommends adjusting your sleep schedule slowly, avoiding the blue light from screens before bedtime, and choosing a relaxing activity to do before bed.
Take Real Vacations
Sometimes, you just need to completely step away from your responsibilities as an entrepreneur so that you can fully recharge. You might be nervous about taking a real vacation and handing over the reins to anyone else for a little while, but when you come home, you'll feel motivated to take on new projects! Once you have a few trusted employees on board, you can take a real vacation and stop checking your inbox for a week or so. You'll need to get comfortable with delegating important tasks to others, but when you have a reliable team, it will take some of the pressure off you!
Entrepreneurship is hard work. In many cases, you'll inevitably have to put more effort into your job than you would if you were working for someone else. But this doesn't mean that you must completely sacrifice your own well-being. With these tips, you'll be able to grow your company without giving up on self-care.
Once again, I would like to thank Brad for writing today's guest post. If you're interested in writing a guest post for my blog, head to the contacts tab at the top of the page, fill in the form stating your idea, and if I like it, I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
