Ladies, I'm sure we've all been there where we have been on the beach or at the swimming pool and we haven't felt fully comfortable in wearing a regular swimming costume/bikini, for whatever reason that may be. There have been many times where I have gone swimming and have worn an old, oversized t-shirt over my swimming costume, due to not feeling confident enough to go without it. I have also been to the beach plenty of times and have not felt able to strip down to my swimming costume as I worry about what other people might think/say. Realistically, no one really cares (at least, they shouldn't) about how you look in your swimming costume, but we should all feel able to be confident in our swimwear. Luckily for us, LYRA Swimwear founder Ikram Zein has created the perfect swimwear collection that allows us to wear our swimwear and feel confident whilst doing so.
Ikram first launched LYRA Swimwear in 2016, after spending years struggling to find swimwear that was modest, was her style, and suited her lifestyle. She had long wished to find some swimwear that not only did this but also reflected her personal beliefs and philosophy. After speaking to women who shared both the same and different faiths as her own, Ikram used these discussions to create her own swimwear collection that could be worn by women of multiple faiths, who wanted a more modest approach to swimwear, and/or who want to wear a hijab whilst swimming.
One thing that Ikram wanted to ensure when she started building up her brand was that all of the designs were ethically made, which is why all LYRA swimwear products meet Fairtrade standards. She also wanted to support the #ThisGirlCan campaign, a campaign that encourages women from all over the world to get into sports. LYRA Swimwear supports this campaign in order to encourage more women to get into swimming, by providing them with swimwear that is both modest and stylish. These designs are based on Ikram's favourite styles, which are classic Hollywood, Moroccan beach, and minimalism.
